Press Arrangements for IAEA Board of Governors Meeting, 5 March 2018

The IAEA Board of Governors will convene a meeting at the Agency's headquarters starting at 10:30 CET on Monday, 5 March 2018 in Boardroom C of the C-Building, in the Vienna International Centre (VIC).

Board discussions are expected to include: the Nuclear Safety Review 2018; a revised safety requirement for the safe transport of radioactive materials; the Nuclear Technology Review 2018; verification and monitoring in the Islamic Republic of Iran in light of United Nations Security Council resolution 2231 (2015); conclusion of safeguards agreements and of additional protocols (if any); application of safeguards in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea; implementation of the NPT safeguards agreement in the Syrian Arab Republic.

The Board of Governors meeting is closed to the press.

Director General Yukiya Amano will open the meeting with an introductory statement. His statement will be released to journalists after delivery and posted on the IAEA website.

Director General Amano is also expected to hold a news conference at 14:30 CET on Monday, 5 March 2018, in the Press Room of the M-building.

Live video streaming of the news conference will be available online from 14:30 (no login needed). Please note that the video stream will be broadcasted on a view-only channel.

The news conference will also be live on Facebook.

Photo-Op:

There will be a photo opportunity at the beginning of each morning session of the Board meeting. Photo opportunities at the beginning of afternoon sessions will only be arranged upon request.

Press Working Area:

The Press Room on the M-Building's ground floor will be available as a press working area starting from 08:30 on 5 March 2018. The area outside Board Room C in C04 will also be set up for the media, with high capacity WiFi available (no password required).

Accreditation:

All journalists are requested to inform the IAEA Press Office of their plans to attend. Journalists with permanent credentials to the VIC need no additional credentials. We encourage those journalists who do not yet have permanent accreditation, to request it at UNIS Vienna.
