The June 2000 IAEA Bulletin edition focuses on energy in a context of climate change and challenge on environmental sustainability. Featured articles examine the mechanisms of the Kyoto Protocol, the role and market of nuclear power as a source of energy, the innovation needed in nuclear reactors and fuel cycles, and the IAEA contribution to sustainably meeting energy needs. The Agency develops a set of indicators for sustainable energy development, and, as part of its programme on Comparative Assessment of Energy Sources, helps Member States build capacity for comparative energy assessment, and has undertaken a review of the GHG emissions from the activities related to the production of electricity from various resources.
