Press Arrangements and Accreditation form for IAEA-UNMOVIC-Iraq Talks, Vienna International Centre

2002/2509

IAEA-UNMOVIC-Iraq Talks

Vienna, 30 September -1 October 2002

Media arrangements:

The talks on practical arrangements related to the commencement of inspections between the Iraqi Government and IAEA and UNMOVIC are scheduled to be held in Vienna on 30 September and could continue through 1 October 2002. The meeting will not be open to the media.

Media representatives will have workspace assigned to them in the CO3 press area with Internet access, laptop plug-ins, fax, and a photocopier. A separate working area will also be provided for TV crews.

A number of photo opportunities for TV/photographers will be organized. Many of these photo-ops will have to be pooled. Convenient space for a limited number of satellite trucks is available within the UN headquarters compound in the plaza just before the main entrance.

There will be a press conference at the conclusion of the talks. Details of the timing and other briefings will be announced later.

Media accreditation

Please fill out the attached accreditation form and return it by fax to Brenda Blann at +43-1-2600-29610 or e-mail: B.Blann@iaea.org.

Press accreditation badges will be issued at the press registration desk upon display of a valid press card at Checkpoint/Gate 1 of the Vienna International Centre, Wagramer Strasse 5, from 12 noon to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday 29 September. On Monday 30 September, accreditation is possible as of 8 a.m. Journalists are strongly encouraged to register on Sunday.

Journalists already accredited to the United Nations in Vienna do not need extra accreditation for the Iraq talks. Media credentials issued at UN Headquarters in New York or Geneva do not allow access to the UN Office at Vienna.
