Keeping in mind the necessity for good planning, upstream work, and engagement with all stakeholders, the IAEA organized a Regional Meeting on Pre-Project Assistance and Project Design for the ARASIA Project Concepts for 2016-2017.
The meeting, held in Vienna from 30 March to 1 April 2015, brought together 40 national coordinators to work with the IAEA Secretariat on finalisation of the designs of five ARASIA proposed project concepts, submitted for the TC Programme cycle 2016-2017.
The meeting's participants reviewed each project design, shared views on how to ensure success and sustainability, and finalised each project's respective detailed work plans and all related documents. At the end of the meeting, high-quality project designs with clear and implementable objectives addressing central issues in ARASIA States Parties were developed.
The proposed programme continues to reflect ARASIA's efforts to further increase the potential contribution of nuclear science and technologies in key areas of socio-economic development, including nuclear and radiation safety, food and agriculture, dosimetry and medical physics, and energy planning.
