The meeting will discuss the proposed new project RLA1013 (RLA2014018) for the TC cycle 2016-19. It will detail the work plan and activities for facilitating its implementation in the 17 participating countries.  The project envisages to provide participants with technical knowledge and guidance specifically on a) Improving the competitiveness and quality of products of regional industries using radiation technologies for measurement (radiotracers, sealed sources, nucleonic control systems) and processing (irradiation by electron beams, gamma rays, X-rays); b) Strengthening national human resources to utilize radiation technologies in different applications ( industry, environment and research); c) Developing strategies to assess and reduce the environmental impact of existing industries through use of radiation technologies; d) Improving the use of renewable natural resources for sustainable development; and e) Reducing losses of perishable food products, and expand the commercial applications of food irradiation.
