Ms Alda Ozola, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of the Republic of Latvia,?and Mr Dazhu Yang,?IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, signed Latvia’s Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2020-2025 on 16 December 2019 by exchange of letter. A CPF is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.

Latvia has been an IAEA Member State since 1997. Its 2020-2025 CPF identifies four?priority areas:

1. Radiation safety and regulatory infrastructure

2. Nuclear knowledge development and management

3. Human health

4. Waste management and environmental monitoring
