The Government of Malawi and Mr Dazhu Yang, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, have signed Malawi's Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2016 - 2021 on 26 April, 2016. A CPF is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.
Malawi has been an IAEA Member State since 2006. Its 2016-2021 CPF identifies eight priority areas:
1. Human Health
2. Agriculture
3. Nuclear Radiation Safety and Nuclear Security
4. Flood Risk mitigation
5. Water resources management
6. Energy planning
7. Industrial Applications
8. Uranium mining and waste management
