| € 15.00 | Date published: 2005The International Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Energy in the 21st Century was organized by the IAEA in cooperation with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the Nuclear Energy Agency (OECD/NEA), and was hosted by the Government of France. The broad strategic objectives of the conference were to facilitate a discussion on the issue of nuclear energy and society, involving ministers, experts and decision makers, which would review the role of nuclear power and define the potential benefits (energy security, sustainability and improved environmental protection) that expanding nuclear power offers to meet the increasing energy needs of the world. This was encouraged by recent indications by a number of Member States regarding their future increased use of nuclear power.
