About the webinar

Bruce Snead, Director of Engineering Extension at Kansas State University in the United States, will talk about quality assurance for radon measurements. In particular, he will discuss the purpose of primary and secondary standards laboratories which house and operate radon chambers. He will explain the principles of good radon science and highlight how intercomparisons, spiking, device performance tests and device evaluations can be conducted. He will also share insights from a secondary radon chamber operator perspective.

About the presenter

Bruce Snead is Director of Engineering Extension at Kansas State University (KSU) and has been a state extension specialist in residential energy, radon and indoor air quality since 1982.

He has conducted radon industry training since 1989, and directs the Midwest Universities Radon Consortium at KSU, which offers courses in 33 US states.

Mr Snead has also led KSU’s role in the Kansas Radon Program for 28 years and has conducted the National Radon Program Services effort for United States Environmental Protection Agency since 2009. This program provides technical assistance through toll-free phone lines and online at sosradon.org.

Mr Snead also leads operations of ?KSU’s Radon Chamber, which provides secondary radon chamber services to the US radon industry.
