Description
This webinar presents the approach used by the Government of Estonia to navigate Phase 1 of the IAEA’s Milestones Approach. It describes the important roles of cooperation and stakeholder engagement throughout Phase 1, as well as the use of both internal and external expertise to support its deliberations regarding the potential introduction of a new nuclear power programme. It also highlights the role of government in developing a national position related to the introduction of nuclear power.
The webinar discusses the following topics:
- Role of the Nuclear Energy Programme Implementing Organization (NEPIO) to support coordination;
- Engagement with the key stakeholders throughout Phase 1, including the general public and Parliament, and the role of government in developing a national position;
- Competencies required to development of Estonia’s Comprehensive Report; and
- Role of IAEA support for countries at the initial stages of consideration.
