13 February is World Radio Day - a day to celebrate radio as a communication channel and also as an important way to reach IAEA Member States in the developing parts of the world where internet access or TV ownership is limited.
The IAEA not only produces its own podcasts, which are available online, but also works with UN Radio to raise awareness of the IAEA's technical cooperation (TC) programme activities and the challenges that TC projects address.
UN Radio produces daily news content in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Kiswahili, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish, and weekly programmes in, Hindi, Urdu and Indonesian. Content can be downloaded from their website and used by broadcasters in their programmes or as a source of information and materials for individual reporters.
To celebrate World Radio day, UN Radio news reports from 2014, highlighting IAEA technical cooperation activities, are listed opposite with topics ranging from nuclear medicine in Mauritania to combatting the spread of Ug99 in wheat.
