ElBaradei To Receive Honorary Degree From New York University

New York University (NYU) President, John Sexton, will present IAEA Director General, Mohamed ElBaradei, with an honorary Doctor of Law degree on 13 May in special ceremonies during NYU's annual Commencement Exercise. Doctor ElBaradei has a long association with both the University and the field of international law. After receiving his Bachelor's degree in Law from the University of Cairo in his native Egypt, Dr. ElBaradei earned a Doctorate in International Law at the NYU School of Law in 1974.

Doctor ElBaradei has a long association with both the University and the field of international law. After receiving his Bachelor's degree in Law from the University of Cairo in his native Egypt, Dr. ElBaradei earned a Doctorate in International Law at the NYU School of Law in 1974.

After serving with his country's diplomatic service for more than 15 years, Dr. ElBaradei returned to NYU to teach as an Adjunct Professor of International Law at the NYU School of Law.

President Sexton will present Dr. Elbaradei with a Doctor of Laws degree, honoris causa. Among the other distinguished people being honored by the NYU special degrees on May 13 are: Richard Parsons, Chairman and CEO of Time-Warner, Duncan Rice, principal and vice-chancellor of the University of Aberdeen, Judith Rosen, outgoing president of the University of Pennsylvania, and Tatsura Toyoda, chairman and CEO of the Toyota Corporation.
